How Your Self Worth Affects Your Bottom Line!

This is Dr. RandiB., your board-certified pediatrician and financial wellness expert where I provide your RX to wealth and financial well-being. I’m also the author of my Amazon number one bestseller Ladynomics: A Woman’s Prescription for Wealth and Financial Well Being.

Ahh Self Worth!

Believe it or not, your self-worth can affect your personal financial bottom line. But what is self-worth? It’s how you value yourself. When you have strong self-worth, you walk with confidence; you’re assertive, not necessarily arrogant. You go for the things you want because you’re worthy and you deserve to.

What happens when you have poor self-worth or self-esteem? The ramifications are many! In a financial sense, it can directly affect your bottom line. Many of us do not make the connection but if you don’t feel good about yourself, chances are you will make financial decisions or miss opportunities that reflect that.

Here are some examples:

  • You don’t pursue a promotion or ask for a raise at work. By not asking for that raise or going for that promotion, you are missing out on extra income or perks that can accomplish your goals.
  • If you are self-employed or have a side hustle, you undervalue your products or sell them for less than what they are worth because you’re afraid no one will pay a higher price.
  • You attract the wrong people to you or repel the right people because you lack confidence.

What Can You Do Right Now to Increase Your Self-Confidence or Esteem?

For one, get into the habit of reversing negative thinking. If you are a hard worker and your reputation and performance evaluations reflect that, do not be afraid to ask for a raise or promotion. The worst your employer can say is no. Look for positions or employment that offer a higher income or standing. Another step is using affirmations. What is an affirmation? It is a statement (usually positive) that you believe or “affirm” to be true. Some effective affirmations are “I am deserving of abundance,” “I am deserving of employment that pays me well,” and “My business will be prosperous.” Understand?!

If there are deep-seated issues, get therapy. Get to the root of why you feel you’re not worthy of all the great things that life has to offer. There’s a multitude of wonderful things that can occur in your life if you’re open to receiving it. So, get the therapy and do the work. It can translate into having a higher net worth amongst other things. It can also lead to great relationships.

You will walk in the world feeling more confident, more assertive, and loving yourself even more.
